Implementation of Govt’s decisions on the recommendations of the 7th CPC

7th CPC Pension Revision for Pre-2016 Defence Civilian Pensioners – PCDA (P) Circular C-164, May 2017

Pre-2016 Defence civilian pensioners and family pensioners will get the better of two pension formulas under the 7th Pay Commission. Along with the existing method of multiplying pension by 2.57, pension can now also be worked out by notionally fixing pay in the 7th CPC pay matrix, with 50% of that notional pay as pension and 30% as family pension. Whichever amount is higher will be paid from 1 January 2016. The minimum pension is ₹9,000 per month, and pensioners aged 80 and above continue to receive additional pension of 20% to 100% based on age. Heads of Office must send the details to PCDA (Pensions) Allahabad for issue of revised PPOs. The circular includes the Government’s order of 12 May 2017 and worked examples of the calculation.
