Appeal for justice to 23 lakh Central Government Pensioners

RSCWS Appeal for Pension Parity under 7th CPC – January 2017

Nearly 23 lakh Central Government pensioners, especially those who retired before 2006 and 1996, stood to lose out if the 7th Pay Commission’s Option 1 for pension revision was dropped. The Railways Senior Citizens Welfare Society (RSCWS) raised this urgently with the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister and the Minister of State for Pensions in a letter dated 23 January 2017. The Society argues that Option 1 is workable since service records of over 80% of old pensioners are available, and that missing records can be rebuilt. It requests that pension be fixed at the highest of three options: Option 1 based on increments earned, the 2.57 multiplier, and notional pay fixation across Pay Commissions. An attached table shows how older pensioners could lose pension under the notional fixation method alone. Read the full letter for the complete appeal.
