High Court Upholds Pay Stepping-Up for DAD Employees – Union of India vs Satpal Singh, May 2015
A significant win for Defence Accounts Department retirees: the Punjab & Haryana High Court, in its judgment of 6 May 2015, upheld their right to have their pay stepped up to match juniors who were drawing higher pay. Hearing the cases of Sh Satpal Singh, Sh Virender Mitter and others, the Court noted that this issue had already been settled by CAT benches in Bangalore, Madras and Delhi, and approved by the Supreme Court. However, since the petitioners approached the Tribunal only in 2011, arrears were limited to the period from 1 January 2010, to be paid within four months.
