Full Pension for Pre-2006 Pensioners Regardless of 33 Years’ Service – April 2016
Pre-2006 pensioners who retired with less than 33 years of qualifying service will no longer face a reduced pension. Following several court rulings, including one upheld by the Supreme Court, the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare decided on 6 April 2016 that their revised pension shall not be lower than 50% of the minimum of pay in the pay band plus grade pay for their pre-revised scale, without any pro-rata cut. Arrears are payable from 1 January 2006, and departments have been asked to issue revised PPOs on priority. Read the full order for complete details.
