Simplification of procedure for treatment at private hospitals empanelled under CGHS/CS (MA) Rules, 1944

This Office Memorandum from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, dated 9 November 2017, simplifies treatment at CGHS empanelled private hospitals. CGHS beneficiaries can now get listed treatment procedures done directly on the advice of a Government Specialist or CGHS Medical Officer, without a separate permission letter. Treatment will be cashless for pensioners, ex-MPs, freedom fighters and other eligible beneficiaries, while serving employees can claim reimbursement by attaching the prescription. Doctors will refer patients to “any CGHS empanelled centre” instead of a specific hospital, so beneficiaries can choose where to go. This applies only to procedures with CGHS rates.
