Appeals to Restore Direct OPD Referrals to Private Hospitals in Chandigarh – September 2016
Since 2013, CGHS patients in Chandigarh have had to go to PGI or GMCH-32 first before being referred to empanelled private hospitals, causing great hardship to senior citizens. This set of letters from September 2016 brings their concerns to the Union Health Minister. Sh N.C. Goel, Senior Vice President of BJP (Ward 14) and former advisor to DAPWA, describes how a single CGHS dispensary in Sector 45 serves about 30,000 beneficiaries with only five doctors, and requests a new dispensary in Chandigarh, Mohali or Panchkula along with restoration of direct OPD referrals for those above 60. His appeal is forwarded by MP Smt Kirron Kher and the Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association.
